[b:4540a6ad0c]Do you find it difficult to choose a book to read?[/b:4540a6ad0c][/size:4540a6ad0c]

If you don’t have a predilection for a particular author or genre 😐
If you don’t have anybody to recommend you a book 🙁
If you like trying new things and you feel adventurous 8)

Don’t despair! Help is at hand here:

    [b:4540a6ad0c]http://www.whichbook.net[/b:4540a6ad0c]

This is a fantabulous website where you can find books that match your taste, since the books get selected in a tailor-made sort of way by you. You don’t need to know any authors; just choose what you fancy[/color:4540a6ad0c]. That easy!

    This is how it works:

You can choose up to 4 categories clicking on the bars and moving the arrow (^) to left or right depending which extreme you prefer; the closer to a side the more you like that. If you make a mistake, you need to reset to start again.

You can also change to character, plot, setting and there you can decide which kind of characters you’d like to appear in the story; where you want the story to be set, and what to be about. Wicked! I wouldn’t bother with all this unless I’m feeling fussy about what I fancy to read at the time.

So, once you’re ready press GO! And wait for the results.

On the right you’ll have a list of book titles with their respective authors; a general comment about the book; other similar books (parallels); a short extract; and a link to all UK libraries (click on Borrow) to find out if there’s a copy at you local.

Amazing! Innit? Well then, have a go at it.

However, if you know what you want to read, just find out if we keep a copy using the Online Library Catalogue:

Remember that you can keep track of your book loans and renew them yourself online, on this same website. Just click on "my account" and enter your Library Card Number (without the letters LDP) and your PIN. Or …. pop in at the library to do it in person and say hello at the same time. 😉

    always happy to help, 😉

I guess people are still traditional when it comes to choose books to read (nobody seems to have used the abovementioned website).

Well, not a problem. I welcome you to post here your personal book recommendations.
Please write title and author, perhaps a little summary of the plot, and why you liked the book.

    Here’s my first contribution:

    [b:730751b5f6][i:730751b5f6]Intimacy[/color:730751b5f6][/i:730751b5f6][/b:730751b5f6] by [b:730751b5f6]Hanif Kureishi[/color:730751b5f6][/b:730751b5f6]

A married man father to 2 sons plans to leave his wife after 7 years of marriage without saying anything to her. They’ve got a good life but he doesn’t love his wife – and she doesn’t love him. He isn’t 100% sure about what he’s about to do and wishes deep inside that a last minute "action" from his wife will bring back the intimacy he lost.[/color:730751b5f6]

When reading this book you’re most likely to take parts in the story either with him or against. I was in favour. How moral and ethical, how cruel and careless, how selfish or brave is him? There for you to decide.

I found this book quite uplifting and motivating; not because I’m planning to leave anybody (well, I don’t any family to leave), but because it encourages people to take the decision (hard decision indeed) to choose your own truthful happiness instead of a fake self-imposed facade covering the real unhappy family life.
