Bodies Found, Hallfield Road, Bradford West Yorkshire Police is today releasing the identities of a couple found dead in a flat in Bradford
as part of a public appeal for information to trace their last movements.
Officers were called to the flat in Hallfield Road shortly before 9pm on Monday, 17th January, where the bodies of a man
and a woman were found.
The man’s body has since been identified as that of Bartlomiej Jakub Bozek, who was 33 years old.
A post-mortem examination revealed he died as a result of hanging.
The woman’s body has been identified as that of Karolina Wasilewski, who was 28 years old and the tenant of the flat.
A post-mortem examination has been performed and the cause of her death is still under investigation.
Bartlomiej and Karolina are known to have been in a relationship and are both Polish nationals.
Bartlomiej was also known as ‘Bart’ and is known to have lived in the Tarnow area of southern Poland, near to Krakow.
Karolina is originally from the Belchatow area.
The investigation into the couple’s deaths is being carried out by West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
Officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with their deaths, but want to trace anyone who may have seen either
Bartlomiej or Karolina in the days leading up to the discovery of their bodies.
The investigation is being led by Detective Superintendent Sukhbir Singh.
Det Supt Singh said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen either Karolina or Bartlomiej since the Christmas and
New Year period up to and including the 17th of January, because they may have vital information which can assist us.
“So far we know that Bartlomiej was last seen alive on Thursday, 6 January, but the last known sighting of Karolina is believed to be on
New Year’s Day, Saturday 1 January.
“Anyone who has seen either Bartlomiej or Karolina in the days leading up to the 17th is urged to contact officers as soon
as possible so we can piece together their last movements and build a clearer picture of their lives.”
Officers are particularly keen to speak to members of Bradford’s Polish community.
Det Supt Singh said: “We know that both Bartlomiej and Karolina had links with the Polish community in Bradford so it’s very likely
that the information they have could be particularly useful to our enquiries.
“Anyone who is concerned about language barriers can contact officers and make an appointment to speak to us alongside our
Polish translator.”
Anyone who feels they have information which can assist the enquiry is asked to contact the Homicide and
Major Enquiry Team on 0845 6060606.
Members of the public can also send information to the enquiry team by text message on 07786200805,
starting your text with the word 'Hallfield’.
